Ohio Congressman Steve Chabot Joins Macedonia Caucus

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is thrilled to announce that Congressman Steve Chabot (Republican-Ohio’s 1st Congressional District) has officially joined the bi-partisan Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans.

The Macedonia Caucus is dedicated to maintaining and strengthening a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Macedonia.

UMD is pleased to see the Caucus grow one more member from a District that contains many generations of proud Macedonians who have made great economic and entrepreneurial contributions to the greater Cincinnati region. Fun Fact: The Macedonian immigrant brothers Tom and John Kiradjieff invented Cincinnati Chili in the 1920s.

Throughout the month of June and as part of UMD’s advocacy work, Macedonian-American volunteer advocates, spearheaded by UMD member Marija Georgievski, held a total of six meetings in Ohio. Several more are planned for the remainder of the summer, and in other states, discussing U.S.-Macedonia relations and Macedonian-American positions.

The meetings were with Congressman Steve Chabot, as well as the local staff of Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Congressman Bob Gibbs, Congressman Steve Stivers, Congressman Bob Latta, and Congressman Bill Johnson.

Special thanks to our volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules to conduct these educational advocacy meetings:
