Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger Joins Macedonia Caucus

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is pleased to announce that Congressman Adam Kinzinger has joined the Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans (Macedonia Caucus).  Congressman Kinzinger is the U.S. Representative for Illinois’ Eleventh Congressional District, serving his first term.   UMD thanks the efforts of the Macedonian-American community in Illinois and friends of Macedonia.

Serving as the Deputy Republican Whip, Congressman Kinzinger is one of the youngest Members of Congress and was named one of Time Magazine’s 40 under 40 “Rising stars in American politics.”  Prior to coming to Congress, he served in the United States Air Force, and currently still is a pilot with the Air National Guard with the rank of Major.

“UMD and Macedonian-Americans are honored to have Congressman Kinzinger join the Macedonia Caucus, and we welcome his support for Macedonia and its NATO membership,” said UMD President Metodija A. Koloski.  “With the joining of Congressman Kinzinger, the Macedonia Caucus increased to sixteen members.”

The Macedonia Caucus, chaired by the longstanding friend of Macedonia, Congresswoman Candice Miller (R-MI), serves as a body to maintain and strengthen the positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Macedonia.  In March 2012, the Macedonia Caucus led an effort putting together fifty-four members of Congress, including Congressman Kinzinger, to send a letter to President Obama urging him to support Macedonia’s NATO membership during the NATO Summit in Chicago.

As the voice for Macedonian-Americans in Washington, D.C., UMD looks forward to working with all Macedonia Caucus members in furthering its work on U.S.-Macedonia relations.  UMD encourages all Macedonian-Americans to contact their members of Congress and ask them to join the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans.  Please click HERE to send your letter.
