UMD Congratulates New U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Coach Vlatko Andonovski

UMD, which serves as the voice of our nation’s more than half a million Americans of Macedonian heritage, would like to congratulate Vlatko Andonovski on his new position as the ninth head coach in U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team history, taking over as Jill Ellis steps down. Previously, Andonovski served as head coach in the National Women’s Soccer League, specifically for FC Kansas City and Reign FC. Andonovski has earned multiple titles, winning two championships during his time with FC Kansas City, and has previously worked with USWNT players, Megan Rapinoe and Allie Long.

Andonovski was born in Skopje, Macedonia, and played for Macedonian club teams for a number of years, including FK Rabotnički, Makedonija GP and FK Vardar. He later moved to the U.S. to play professional indoor soccer and later transitioned to coaching.

UMD is thrilled to see what Andonovski will bring to the USWNT, and is proud, as Macedonians, to see one of own thrive on the international stage. Andonovski will bring his skill, expert coaching experience, and dedication to his new role as head coach. UMD looks forward to Andonovski’s first game against Sweden on November 7th, and wishes him and the USWNT luck in their upcoming season.
