UMD Congratulates Macedonia’s EuroBasket Win Over Greece

September 3, 2011 – Skopje, Macedonia – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) Board Chairman Stojan Nikolov and President Metodija A. Koloski, who are on an official visit to Macedonia to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Macedonia’s Independence, send their congratulations to Macedonia’s Men’s National Basketball Team over tonight’s 72:58 win against Greece at the European Basketball Championship (EuroBasket 2011) in Lithuania.

“Macedonians tonight are celebrating in masses all over Macedonia and the world,” said UMD Board Chairman Stojan Nikolov.  “Macedonian flags are waving everywhere and it is a proud moment for all of Macedonia and Macedonians.”

Greece suffered a 14-point loss during tonight’s game.  Both in Group C, Greece and Macedonia are tied for a 2:1 win/loss.  Macedonia defeated Croatia on September 1 and is scheduled to play against Finland on September 4, and Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 5.

“This is the first time Macedonia has defeated Greece at EuroBasket,” said UMD President Metodija A. Koloski.  “I am so proud to be in Macedonia to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Macedonia’s Independence.  This win at EuroBasket will give us even more reason to celebrate.”

UMD wishes Macedonia’s national team best of luck as they advance at EuroBasket.
