U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) issued the following statement after introducing a House Resolution (H.Res. 543) affirming the support of the United States for Macedonia’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO):

“One of the first countries to offer the U.S. support after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, Macedonia has been a loyal, effective member of international security efforts and a more-than worthy candidate for accession to NATO. Since 1993, Macedonia has been committed to joining NATO, even serving alongside NATO forces on battlefields across the globe. It is a proud nation that shares our values and allegiance to freedom and democracy.

“As the Chairman of the Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonia-Americans, I understand what Macedonia has and can contribute to NATO and strongly advocate for their accession into the international security organization.”
