U.S. Department of State Releases 2005 Religious Freedom Report on Macedonia

The Office of International Religious Freedom of the U.S. Department of State recently released its 2005 Religious Freedom Report on Macedonia.  In this report it states that in Macedonia “There was no overall change in the status of respect for religious freedom during the period covered by this report. The continued absence of provocative actions by state and nonstate actors, and ongoing government efforts to consolidate a unitary, multiethnic state, helped foster a climate of general respect for religious freedom.”

The Office of International Religious Freedom has the mission of promoting religious freedom as a core objective of U.S. foreign policy. Headed by Ambassador-at-Large John Hanford for International Religious Freedom, its Office Director and staff monitor religious persecution and discrimination worldwide, recommend and implement policies in respective regions or countries, and develop programs to promote religious freedom.
