UMD Congratulates Ensemble Makedonka on 50th Anniversary

TORONTO, CANADA – November 29, 2009 – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) congratulated today the Ensemble Makedonka of St. Clement of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral on their 50th Anniversary.  Ensemble Makedonka has been an Ambassador of Macedonia’s rich heritage for 50 years.  UMD also congratulates Alex Petlichkov, choreographer and founding member of the Ensemble, for his outstanding dedication and commitment to the Ensemble since its inception.

“Alex has been a true inspiration to many in Toronto’s Macedonian community,” stated UMD Director of Canadian Operations Jim Daikos.  “Through his phenomenal work with the Ensemble, he has helped to ignite the community’s passion for traditional Macedonian dance and culture, and has been a friend and mentor to countless Macedonians.”

Ensemble Makedonka has ensured the preservation of Macedonian culture among all its past and current members, and we are proud of their contributions to the Canadian-Macedonian community.  UMD wishes Ensemble Makedonka great success for another 50 years of promoting the rich Macedonian heritage among Macedonians and the Canadian public.
