Release No. 06-09/08
GARFIELD, NEW JERSEY – On September 8, 2006, the Macedonian-American community of New Jersey celebrated the signing of a ceremonial Joint Legislative Resolution from the State of New Jersey Senate and the General Assembly håonoring and saluting the Republic of Macedonia upon the auspicious 15th anniversary of its independence. Members of the organization United Macedonian Diaspora who reside in the State of New Jersey were instrumental in getting this joint legislative resolution issued.
“Macedonia continues to serve as a shining model of democratic values by holding free and fair elections, by promoting the free exchange of ideas, and by vigorously exercising a democratic government that is fully representative of its citizens,” praises the resolution.
The document further elaborates that “Macedonian people take great pride in their years of cultural, religious, and linguistic traditions, and through their example, have enriched the mosaic of the State of New Jersey.”
The resolution not only honors the Republic of Macedonia, but also “pays tribute to the important contributions of Macedonian-Americans to the State of New Jersey and this country. (United States)” The Macedonians all over New Jersey should be proud of such acknowledgement.
The United Macedonian Diaspora would like to express appreciation to Senator Paul A. Sarlo and Assemblymen Frederick Scalera and Gary S. Schaer from the 36th District for their continued support of the Macedonian-American community. This resolution is the first of its kind in the State of New Jersey. United Macedonian Diaspora congratulates the thousands of Macedonian-Americans for helping to strengthen New Jersey through their focus on faith, family, and hard work.
