Jason Miko brings over twenty years of experience in public relations, communications, management, economic development, public affairs, lobbying and humanitarian work to the table. Having traveled extensively, he also possesses a broad understanding of different cultures and communities.
In his professional career, Jason spent seven years working in Washington, DC in professional party politics and with Ruder Finn, an independent public relations firm where he represented clients in the Balkans and in travel and tourism. He also spent seven years living and working in Macedonia, almost five of them with Mercy Corps, a Portland, Oregon-based humanitarian and developmental outfit as both communications officer and then country director.
He has worked with Barbour, Griffith and Rogers and Quinn Gillespie and Associates in Washington, DC, representing clients in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Ukraine on issues of economic development, communications, public affairs, and in the non-governmental sector. He currently works with Russell Public Communications in Tucson, Arizona, where he is Director of Account Service.
A native Arizonan, Jason graduated from the University of Arizona with a B. S. in Business Administration and currently resides in Oro Valley. Jason has traveled to 50 countries, lived a quarter of his life overseas and produced a documentary film on Macedonia, A Name is a Name. He enjoys music, travel, history, hiking, weight lifting, jogging, swimming, reading, fine wine, craft beer and general geo-political discussions. He currently serves as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Macedonia to Arizona and writes weekly columns for the Macedonian newspaper Dnevnik.
