Indiana Congressman Frank J. Mrvan Joins Macedonian Caucus

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD), the leading voice for our nation’s more than half a million Americans of Macedonian heritage, is excited to announce Congressman Frank J. Mrvan of Indiana’s 1st Congressional District, has become the newest member of the bi-cameral and bi-partisan Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans. The Caucus, which currently has 35 members of Congress, is marking its 10th anniversary in strengthening U.S.-Macedonian strategic relations.

Congressman Mrvan stated, “It is my distinct honor to be a member of the Macedonian Caucus, and also cosponsor H.Res. 741. This resolution supports the designation of September 2022 as Macedonian American Heritage Month and esteems the integral role of Macedonian Americans in the economy, culture, and identity of the United States. I have always been grateful for the invaluable contributions of the Macedonian people and culture in the First Congressional District of Indiana, and I look forward to continuing to foster collaboration and friendship with the Macedonian community.”

Congressman Mrvan was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2020. Prior to that, he was the North Township Trustee for 15 years. In the 117th Congress, he is a member of the House Committee on Education and Labor, including the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee, and the Civil Rights and Human Services Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, including the Subcommittee on Health, and he also serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Technology Modernization.

“Frank is doing a fantastic job representing our District – given my Macedonian heritage, and the size of our community in Indiana, I cannot be more grateful that he is a friend of Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans,” said UMD member Alexander Sarafin.

“We are thrilled that our member of Congress – home to the first Macedonian Orthodox Church in North America – Sts. Peter and Paul, in Crown, Indiana, has joined the Macedonia Caucus – we look forward to working with Congressman Mrvan and welcoming him to our church community in person soon,” said Marjan Trajkovski, president of Sts. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church.

“UMD thanks Congressman Mrvan for his friendship and building stronger ties with Macedonian-Americans in Indiana – a state with a historic and thriving community of Americans of Macedonian heritage,” underscored UMD President Meto Koloski.
