Announcing the UMD Macedonian Heritage Scholarship

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is pleased to announce its scholarship program to assist young Macedonians pursuing an undergraduate degree in the U.S., Canada, or Australia.

UMD will award up to three scholarships annually, in the amount of $1,000.00 each for full-time undergraduate students at an accredited American, Australian, or Canadian college or university.

Applicants must be undergraduate students of Macedonian heritage.

•    Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited American, Canadian, or Australian university or college
•    Submit a completed application with all necessary documents (application, transcript, essay)
•    Applicants or their parents must be members of UMD to be considered.

UMD requests an essay, no more than 1,000 words on the following topic:

As a young Macedonian, please tell us what being of Macedonian heritage means for you in the context of your wider society.  How have your values been affected by the society in which you live?  Have you been able to harmoniously adapt your ethnic identity and the values of your ancestors with society at-large?  If so, how have you defended yourself for being different?

Please Note:
The essays of the scholarship recipients will be published in UMD publications.

Candidates must present documentation to UMD verifying the eligibility criteria.  The selection will be based on merit.

How to Apply:
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.  Please read the following instructions carefully.  Submit the following items at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the fall term.  When applying, you must indicate the start date of the term for which you are applying.
