As the Treasurer of the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD), I would like to personally thank you for your support over the last year. A challenge has been presented to UMD to raise $25,000 by midnight on December 31, 2010 and that $25,000 will be matched by an anonymous supporter of the Macedonian cause and friend of UMD.
We are closing out the books for 2010, and we hope we can count on you for a tax-deductible donation before midnight on December 31, 2010. Every dollar counts and every dollar helps towards our $25,000 goal.
When I started volunteering with UMD, I did not envision we would grow to become what we are today – one of the largest Macedonian organizations outside of our homeland Macedonia with a global presence and diplomatic skill to make an impact when it matters most. For over 5 years, UMD has dedicated itself to advancing the interests and needs of Macedonians. Today, there is no organization better situated to advance our struggle for Macedonia.
As Macedonia enters its 20th year of independence, the struggle is far from over. Our ancestors fought for our free and independent Macedonia and for the freedom of the Macedonian people. Honor that sacrifice today with a tax-deductible donation! Help the UMD continue that struggle into the 21st century. UMD’s unparalleled access to policymakers takes on critical importance as we face many challenges such as:
– 66 countries, including Australia, France, Germany, Albania, and South Africa, do not recognize Macedonia’s name.
– Greece continues to oppose Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic and European integration.
– Bulgaria and Greece’s discrimination of Macedonia and the Macedonian people, identity, and language is more prevalent than ever.
– A serious threat to reduce foreign aid to Macedonia from the European Union and the United States exists and is growing support.
My colleagues and I in UMD are part of a global advocacy team. We do not just talk about these issues but we do something about them through education, diplomatic engagement and innovative advocacy. Your donation will enable us to continue our work of building important bridges to international leaders and communities to address these global challenges.
UMD is the only organization with a permanent presence in the heart of Washington, D.C. only steps away from U.S. policymakers. In addition, UMD has established operations in Australia, Canada, and Europe giving Macedonians a united voice to fight our cause.
