UMD Launches Western Australian Operations and Appoints Dame Krcoski as Regional Representative

12 Nov. 2010 – Perth, Western Australia – On 12 Nov. 2010, the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) reached an important milestone in its growth strategy in Australia by officially launching its operations in Western Australia with a reception appointing Dame Krcoski as its inaugural Regional Representative.

The function was attended by over 60 prominent guests from the Australian Macedonian community of Perth including  the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Macedonia  Mr. Zoran Coseski as well as Presidents of the largest Macedonian community organisations from the state.  The evening was a great success due to the generous support received from MAC FM, Cafe Fratelli’s as well as from local UMD members and supporters.

Guests enjoyed the social networking as well as listening to speeches starting with the Honorary Consul Zoran Coseski who praised the work of UMD around the world and in Australia.  He identified Dame as ‘a natural leader fully committed to serving his community and advancing closer relations between Western Australia and Macedonia’.

In presenting Dame Krcoski with an official UMD certificate marking his appointment, UMD Director of Australian Operations, Ordan Andreevski, who travelled from Melbourne, noted that ‘Dame has been carefully selected for this important position based on his excellent track record over the years as a truly effective Australian-Macedonian young activist who has worked on a range of community capacity building projects and initiatives in Western Australia.  I am confident that Dame and his team of young, highly educated and motivated UMD members and supporters will make a very positive and significant contribution to the social, cultural, political and public diplomacy impact of UMD in Western Australia and beyond.’

According to Dame Krcoski, ‘the launch of the UMD operations in Western Australia is a significant point in the evolution of the United Macedonian Diaspora and its outreach activities.  In my capacity as Regional Representative for Western Australia, I will focus on uniting the community around core values and high impact projects and campaigns which will improve the status, the public policies and support base of the Macedonian community in this part of Australia.  My team and I will reach out to all stakeholders in Western Australia and seek their support for strengthening the Macedonian community and preserving its rich heritage and culture.  We will also focus on nurturing links with Government, Parliament, Business, Media, Universities and think tanks to accelerate the process of achieving positive outcomes for the community and its links with Australia and Macedonia’.

UMD thanks Dame Krcoski and his team of dedicated volunteers who worked hard to organize this launch event.  UMD wishes them great luck as they work to advance Australian-Macedonian relations and educate Western Australian stakeholders about Macedonia and issues concerning Australian-Macedonians.
