The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) – the leading non-governmental, non-partisan, non-political educational advocacy organization promoting the interests of Macedonians and Macedonian communities worldwide – has announced the appointment of Anica Dimitrova and Valentina Talevska to the global UMD Chair Committee.
Anica Dimitrova was born in Stip, Macedonia, and graduated from Goce Delchev University in Macedonia with a finance degree. She moved to the U.S. in 2012 and has lived in Boston ever since with her twin sister, while her brothers and parents still reside in Macedonia. Together, she and her sister recently opened their company Shield Wealth Strategies under New York Life Insurance’s umbrella after working there for five years.
UMD is proud to announce its expansion to Boston. Anica welcomes her appointment with excitement:
“UMD is a great organization to help bring our Macedonian people together. I want my community to be connected, even more, especially the Boston area, and most importantly, get educated on all the opportunities we could have. I want to help Macedonians in the USA to have that trust that there is always someone by their side, doesn’t matter where we are.”
Valentina Talevska is a first-generation Macedonian born in Canton, Ohio. Graduating with honors and a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration from the University of Toledo, she is passionate about service, inclusion, human rights, business administration, and the arts.
Valentina always took pride in her Macedonian heritage and is passionate about increasing the standard of living for all Macedonians and increasing the awareness of Macedonians’ global issues. In the summer of 2017, she participated in the annual Birthright Macedonia program and interned for the Macedonian Human Resources Association. During her internship, she gained a passion for leadership and creating unity within the Macedonian community.
Valentina said:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be involved; this is a great honor to represent the community and to help Macedonians worldwide.”
Valentina moved to South Florida and worked as a Recruiter, and provided staffing services for many Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. She currently resides in Miami, Florida, and works for Christian Dior Beauty as a Beauty Stylist. In her spare time, she enjoys time on the beach, painting, and reading about finance and business strategy.
UMD thanks Mishko Josifov, who served as the UMD Miami Chair since 2012 and was appointed to the UMD Global Board of Directors in November 2020.

” UMD’s Chair Committee is thrilled to welcome Anica and Valentina. We look forward to volunteering together to deliver UMD’s programs to Macedonian-Americans especially from a new area, Boston, and rapidly growing Miami area.”
With these additional appointments, UMD’s Chair Committee consists of eleven members dedicated to furthering UMD’s mission of unifying Macedonians globally and safeguarding, preserving, and advancing the ethnic Macedonian heritage, language, and identity. UMD is making significant strides to achieve gender equality within our leadership, with eight of our Chairs being women.
