UMD Appoints New Australian-Based Board Member

July 11, 2011 – Washington, D.C. – On Saturday, June 25, 2011, during the 3rd Annual United Macedonian Diaspora Global Conference, UMD Board of Directors Chairman Stojan Nikolov announced the Board’s unanimous decision to appoint current UMD Perth/Western Australia Regional Representative Dame Krcoski to the UMD Board of Directors.

“With UMD’s goal to further advance our Australian operations in the next year, the appointment of Dame Krcoski to join current Board member and Director of Australian Operations Ordan Andreevski is of strategic importance as we strengthen our efforts in Australia,” said Nikolov.  “Dame has been an outstanding Australian-Macedonian community leader, and we are pleased he has accepted our appointment for this enormous responsibility.”

In November 2010, UMD appointed Krcoski to be the UMD Perth/Western Australia Regional Representative.  Since then, Krcoski together with UMD Australia Treasurer Robert Pasquale, and their entire team have tripled UMD’s Australian membership base.  In April 2011, UMD Perth/Western Australia held the first-ever Macedonian Food Festival in Perth attracting over 1,000 people to delight in Macedonian food, and learn about Macedonia’s rich cultural heritage and history.  Krcoski has dedicated his time to combating anti-Macedonian sentiments and building greater support from Australian policymakers for Macedonia.

“I am honored to have been invited to join the UMD Board of Directors.  UMD has become a brand name that puts words into action… and promotes the Macedonian cause on a professional level, which has never been seen before within the Macedonian Diaspora communities,” said Krcoski.  “Knowing that I am working with some of the most dedicated people in promoting Macedonian national interests, UMD inspires me never to give up in my diplomatic battle to educate others on Macedonia and the Macedonian people.  United, we can make a difference!  UMD has and continues to make a difference for the Macedonian cause.”

UMD invites all Australian-Macedonians to join the important efforts of UMD to advance Australia-Macedonia relations.  Since UMD’s founding in 2004, UMD has become one of the leading national voices for the Australian-Macedonian community, while working to improve collaboration and dialogue with all Australian-Macedonian community stakeholders.
