Congressman Troy Balderson Joins Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is thrilled to announce that Congressman Troy Balderson (Republican-Ohio’s 12th Congressional District) has officially joined the bi-partisan Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans.

The Macedonia Caucus is dedicated to maintaining and strengthening a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Macedonia.

Congressman Balderson shares many of the same values as our community. For example, he worked on a family farm, something that many Macedonians can connect with being that Macedonia is largely agricultural in both way of life and as a significant contributor to our list of top exports. Congressman Balderson understands first hand the importance the role government plays in affecting private farmers and creating an environment that is friendly for economic growth. He is also an avid outdoorsman and we hope he will someday soon visit Macedonia where he can hike Macedonia’s beautiful mountains, explore ancient paths and go fishing and enjoy the many splendors of this country rich in nature’s treasures.

Congressman Balderson spoke of the Macedonian-American Caucus saying, “From the first Macedonian Ambassador to the U.S. Ljubica Acevska, who grew up in Mansfield, to the abundance of Macedonian-owned small businesses in Central Ohio, Macedonia has a rich history with the 12th Congressional District. As its representative, I’m thrilled to join the Macedonian American Congressional Caucus and support the United States’ relationship with this vibrant community.”

UMD is excited that the Macedonia Caucus is growing in number  and to gain a member from a district and a state with a strong Macedonian-American presence. The greater Columbus area, and Ohio in general, holds a proud Macedonian-American community that contributes economically and culturally to the region and betterment of American society.

UMD recently announced our first-ever Director of National Advocacy, Marija Georgievski, and held a full day of advocacy on Capitol Hill on November 8th. UMD is eager to continue advocating and growing the Macedonia Caucus, with Marijia spearheading these efforts.

Thank you to Congressman Balderson and his team, and we look forward to working with them further on building a stronger U.S.-Macedonia relationship.
