Congressman Conyers took office in 1965, and is Dean of the House of Representatives, its most senior member. He is also the Ranking Member on the Committee on the Judiciary, as well as a member of the Committees on the Constitution, and Intellectual Property, Competition, and Internet. Prior to his 26 consecutive terms in office, Conyers served in the National Guard and the United States Army Corps of Engineers in the Korean War. He holds a B.A. and J.D. from Wayne State University.
Michigan is home to an estimated 125,000 Americans of Macedonian heritage, of which Congressman Conyers’s district is home to one of the larger Macedonian-American communities in the nation.
