330 Macedonian Patients Receive Free Medical Exams/Medication This Summer

This past summer, from June 29 to July 1, 2013, the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) held its first Dr. Ifran Maksudov Memorial Clinic in Strumica, Macedonia and the surrounding villages of Angelci and Banica, helping more than 330 patients, including children and the elderly, to receive free medical exams and free medication.

The free mobile Clinic, spearheaded by Virginia-based UMD member Narcis Maksudova-Moshrefi, comprised a medical team of American and Macedonian doctors and nurses, notably Dr. Diane Taficante, Dr. Vancover Mancev, Dr. Darinka Lapevska-Maksudova, Natasha Goriceva and Daniela Mafkova.

The Dr. Ifran Maksudov Memorial Clinic was held in memory of the late Director of the Strumica General Hospital Dr. Ifran Maksudov. The goal was to provide relief to the flood-stricken Strumica region after the devastating floods in February 2012. Proceeds were raised by the local UMD operations based in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. UMD hopes to continue the free mobile clinic annually.

UMD especially thanks Washington, D.C.-company Realington, Blaze Dimov, Bojan Peovski, Narcis Maksudova-Moshrefi for their financial support, as well as Vasilevo Municipality Mayor Vanco Stojanov, and Bojco Stojanov from the village of Banica, Macedonia for being instrumental in order to make this Clinic successful.
