The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is thrilled to announce that first-term Congresswoman Haley Stevens (Democrat-Michigan’s 11th Congressional District) has officially joined the bi-partisan Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans.
The Macedonia Caucus is dedicated to maintaining and strengthening a positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Macedonia.
Congresswoman Stevens took up office this past January and sits on the House Committee on Education & Labor, and the House Committee on Science, Space & Technology, where she also serves as Chairwoman of the Research & Technology Subcommittee.
“We welcome Congresswoman Stevens as a friend of Macedonia and the Macedonian-American community, especially since she represents a District that contains many generations of proud Macedonians who have made great economic and entrepreneurial contributions to the greater Detroit region,” said Michigan-based UMD Board Member and Secretary George Peters.
UMD Michigan Chair Deana Janceski added that “Michigan is home to an estimated 125,000 Americans of Macedonian heritage and the 11th Congressional District is home to one of the largest Macedonian-American communities in our nation. We look forward to bringing Congresswoman Stevens up to speed on the issues concerning our community, including in the fields of education, healthcare, and the workforce, and counting on her support for years to come.”
