ACTION ALERT 2

"The Greek government views the term "Macedonian" as a geographic term that describes all Greek citizens living in the Macedonian region in northern Greece. The government denies the assertions of the ethnic Macedonians in Greece that they are are a minority group; officials refer to them as "Slavophone Greeks" or "bilinguals." - Human Rights Watch

UMD Sympathizes with Polish People PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 April 2010
UMD sent a letter of condolences today to the Polish Ambassadors in Washington, D.C., Brussels, Canberra, and Ottawa over the tragic death of the Polish President.

Text of letter:

Dear Ambassador:

It is with great sadness that we received the devastating information that President Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria Kaczynska, together with several Polish government officials, perished in a tragic accident on April 10, 2010.  The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) fully sympathizes with the Polish people, as the President of Macedonia Boris Trajkovski died in 2004 in a similar tragedy.  On behalf of the UMD, we offer our deepest condolences to the Polish people for this incalculable national loss.  Poland is in our thoughts and prayers in the wake of this traumatic event.

With deepest sympathy,

United Macedonian Diaspora
