ACTION ALERT 2

"The Greek government views the term "Macedonian" as a geographic term that describes all Greek citizens living in the Macedonian region in northern Greece. The government denies the assertions of the ethnic Macedonians in Greece that they are are a minority group; officials refer to them as "Slavophone Greeks" or "bilinguals." - Human Rights Watch

Read the newest and largest UMD Voice Magazine PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 11 August 2009

 Dear Readers,

We are pleased to announce to you the release of our largest UMD Voice magazine to date - 36 pages in full color!

At UMD Voice, we have at least two broad goals: to bring you an unbiased perspective on issues that affect the Macedonian Diaspora and our homeland Macedonia, and also to portray the real Macedonian experience worldwide. I believe our summer issue delivers on both counts.

Here are a few of this issue's highlights:

- 16 pages about the 1st UMD Global Conference and plenty of pictures
- An interview with Maria Kubaiska
- Madzarov Honored as Humanitarian of the Year by Catholic Charities in New Jersey
- An article about Bitola by Chris Deliso
- Memorial gathering in honor of Jane Sandanski - Our first ever article in both Macedonian and English
- Canadian opposition leader Michael Ignatieff
- UMD Attends Little Caesars 50th Anniversary and Pays Tribute to Michael and Marian Ilitch

As always, we would like to thank you, our readers and friends, for your ongoing support of UMD. We hope you enjoy this issue.
