ACTION ALERT 2

"The Greek government views the term "Macedonian" as a geographic term that describes all Greek citizens living in the Macedonian region in northern Greece. The government denies the assertions of the ethnic Macedonians in Greece that they are are a minority group; officials refer to them as "Slavophone Greeks" or "bilinguals." - Human Rights Watch

UMD Australia Welcome PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 02 July 2009

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Australian section of the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) website.

Since UMD’s inception in 2004, Australian Macedonians have played an important role in setting the foundations for the creation of a professional grass roots civil society organisation committed to addressing the most pressing challenges confronting the Macedonia diaspora and the Macedonian state. Australian Macedonian activists like Zoran Milenkovski and Tom Vangelovski were co-founders of UMD and inspired many others to support UMD’s work.

We hope to build upon this proud tradition in the years ahead by attracting the best and brightest volunteer activists in Australia who have the capacity and the passion to advance the Macedonian cause in Australia and internationally.

While the UMD has its international headquarters in Washington D.C, the focus of attention has been to expand our work in Australia and serve the advocacy, planning and strategic needs of the community with vision, bold leadership and effective management capabilities.

I invite you to explore the Australia section of UMD web site and find out more about our structure, strategy, board, governance, task forces, policy agenda and stakeholder communications.

I hope you will consider the possibility of lending your financial or social support to UMD as it strives to deliver unity, improved public policy outcomes and a sustainable future for the Australian Macedonian diaspora.

Regards

Ordan Andreevski
