United Macedonian Diaspora would like to re-iterate its strong position against any changes to Macedonia's constitutional name, The Republic of Macedonia.  UMDiaspora recognizes that an amicable solution between Greece and The Republic of Macedonia should be developed, however the solution must not affect the ethnic Macedonian national origin, heritage, and language. Moreover, UMDiaspora encourages negotiations as to the name issue between Greece and The Republic of Macedonia to focus on the real problem; specifically, terminating state sponsored discrimination by Greece against the Macedonian minority.

UMD thanks Michigan Senator Toy for her support of the Republic of Macedonia's right to self-identification through Resolution 59. The Resolution states that the people who live in the country of Macedonia have a long history and rich Macedonian ethnic heritage, and that the Macedonian people have a separate and distinct national identity who speak their own Macedonian language.

Petition Against Any Changes to Macedonian Name and Identity PDF Print E-mail

UMDiaspora has initiated a petition campaign . Signatories to said petition agree to act as human rights advocates pledging to end racial, ethnic, and religious discrimination against people of ethnic Macedonian origin.  To this end, the UMDiaspora would like to make it known to the International Community that the Macedonian people will no longer tolerate changes to their name, their identity, their national flag, symbols, and anthem, and existing territorial borders. UMDiaspora believes strongly in the rights to freedom, liberty, and self-determination.

35,000 were collected in one month.
