The United Macedonian Diaspora hopes to bring awareness in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area of the rich Macedonian national heritage and culture. We plan to work with other Macedonian organizations in accomplishing our goal to promote the Macedonian national cultural heritage throughout the world. After an unsuccessful bid to win the 2002 Eurovision Contest, Karolina Goceva will attempt once again, this time more confident than ever. Karolina won the Macedonian Eurosong competition with the song "Mojot Svet," beating out 20 competitors by a wide margin. Karolina is the first singer to represent Macedonia twice at Eurovision. She will compete with singers from around Europe in the semi-final in Helsinki, Finland on May 10, 2007. |

To honor one of its most prominent citizens, the Macedonian Stoyan Christowe, the town of Dover, in southern Vermont, has erected a monument that will be unveiled on December 9, 2006. Stoyan Christowe was an author and a statesman who served with distinction as a Member of the Vermont State House of Representatives and the Vermont State Senate. He also wrote six books and his autobiography, This Is My Country, was a personal favorite of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. "In my life, I had two Mothers: Macedonia who gave me birth and America who adopted me." |

For decades now, the Cultural Center in Resen has housed boats, some 4,000 years old. They belonged to the Prespa inhabitants of the Stone Age, and were discovered on the shores of Lake Prespa. |
