Medical Diplomacy Equals Multiethnic Diplomacy: 

Miss Rebecca (Becky) Haddad, Global Delegate for the “Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation,” spent August 4 – 7, 2008 in Kosovo as part of an Embassy Pristina legacy program called the Balkans Breast Cancer Initiative (BBCI – http://pristina.usembassy.gov) Involving several regional U.S. Embassies, USAID, Jeta/Vita -- the only breast cancer NGO in Kosovo - the Ministry of Health, medical personnel and patients, the BBCI has been working since December 2007 to raise awareness of breast cancer - a goal which reaches across borders, religions and ethnicities, and has resonated very positively among all ethnic populations (more)

DOKUFEST 2008, August 4 - 10, 2008 Prizren (www.dokufest.com)

The 7th annual International Documentary and Short Film Festival DOKUFEST opened on August 4, 2008 in Prizren and closed on August 10.   DOKUFEST is the largest, most popular and most well-attended Film Festival in Kosovo.  Many films are screened, workshops are organized, concerts are held - and it always receives wide media coverage. Many internationals visit Kosovo during DOKUFEST.

This year DOKUFEST received 655 film submissions and they selected 139 documentary and short films for screening.  Other editions of films include: DOKUPINK (charity funds dedicated to kids with cancer), DOKUKIDS (short films for children) and DOKUPHOTO (exhibition of photos). DOKUFEST, an NGO that has received some financial support over the last several years from the Public Affairs Section, intends to develop and promote local and international film production.  (more)
