Skopje, 18 January 2011 (Source: MIA) – Bolivia’s government has decided to use the Republic of Macedonia’s constitutional name in future bilateral communication, reads the letter of Bolivian Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca, sent to Macedonian counterpart Antonio Milososki through its UN mission.
Zimbabwe became the 130th country to recognize Macedonia’s constitutional name. Zimbabwe and Macedonia established full-diplomat relations today. Macedonian Prime Minister Gruevski and Zimbabwe President Mugabe met on the sidelines of the Africa-EU Summit in Tripoli, Libya in December 2010 to discuss issues of mutual interest. 17 December 2010 – Vienna, Austria – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is pleased to learn that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s (OSCE) Permanent Council, at their 844th Session, adopted by consensus a decision to change the name of OSCE’s Mission in Macedonia from the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje to the OSCE Mission to Skopje.

November 22, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is extremely disappointed that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) did not formally invite Macedonia to become a member at this past weekend’s Lisbon Summit. UMD strongly urges NATO member states (as well as other countries) to use concerted diplomatic (and economic) efforts vis-à-vis Greece to end its opposition to Macedonia’s entry into the Alliance.

April 30, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) rejected today statements attributed to Member of the European Parliament, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis of Germany and broadcast in an interview with Deutsche Welle. The interview quotes MEP Chatzimarkakis as saying, “that an expected United Nations proposal on Macedonia’s name will include a new name for the Macedonian identity and language.”
Marking Independence Day of the Republic of Macedonia on the 8th of September, Macedonians across the country celebrated statehood as an independent nation.
