WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 12, 2008 – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) celebrates the 15th anniversary since the start of relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the People’s Republic of China, and congratulates both countries on their continued efforts to straighten their ties and mutual understanding. April 30, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) rejected today statements attributed to Member of the European Parliament, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis of Germany and broadcast in an interview with Deutsche Welle. The interview quotes MEP Chatzimarkakis as saying, “that an expected United Nations proposal on Macedonia’s name will include a new name for the Macedonian identity and language.”

November 22, 2010 – Washington, D.C. – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is extremely disappointed that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) did not formally invite Macedonia to become a member at this past weekend’s Lisbon Summit. UMD strongly urges NATO member states (as well as other countries) to use concerted diplomatic (and economic) efforts vis-à-vis Greece to end its opposition to Macedonia’s entry into the Alliance.
